It’s a wrap! The 2019 Pride Parade is over for another year, with Murdoch’s iconic rainbow deck chairs making a colourful addition to the festivities.

Sixty-five students, staff, allies, and families joined thousands of sparkling rainbow revellers as they wound their way on floats and on foot through the streets of Northbridge for the 29th annual salute to the LGBTI community. 

It was the biggest  history, with more than 120 floats and thousands taking part in the march around Northbridge on Saturday 2 December. 

Vice Chancellor Eeva Leinonen, Provost Romy Lawson, Pro Vice Chancellor College of Arts, Business, Law and Social Sciences Grant O’Neill and Pro Vice Chancellor of Education Kylie Readman also joined in to celebrate alongside students and staff from across the organisation. 

Provost Romy Lawson said ��ҹ������վ was built on a foundation of the principals of equity and social justice, as well as opportunity, respect and diversity.

“We are proud to carry on that tradition today.

As a University we will continue to support our LGBTIQ+ community through a variety of programs and projects.

“Our students and staff are very active community citizens and participate in many clubs and societies including the Ally Network and the Murdoch Queer Collective. 

"I would like to congratulate everyone who was involved in this year’s event and all of the volunteers who assisted with the building of the float, and of course those who flew the rainbow flag (or even showed a few dance moves with their rainbow glow sticks) in the parade,” she said.
