Murdoch seeks developer interest in CBD campus
俀珗腦瞳厙桴 is seeking expressions of interest for the development of a new vertical campus in Perths CBD.
It follows the Universitys recently launched new teaching and events space in the city at 32 St Georges Terrace which is being used to facilitate stronger connections with industry, government and business; offer alternative learning opportunities; and foster innovation through new activations and learning experiences.The Universitys Chief Operating Officer Darren McKee said the development of a CBD campus would enhance Murdochs appeal to domestic and international students.
A vertical campus embedded in Western Australias economic, social and civic capital will allow 俀珗腦瞳厙桴 to develop new growth opportunities while offering additional learning and teaching opportunities in Perths CBD, Mr McKee said.
Locating the campus, which will be a medium to high rise development, in the city centre will attract more students from Perths northern and eastern corridors to consider Murdoch as their University of choice.
A campus in the CBD will also allow us to create new partnerships with industry and government in the city, just as we are creating partnerships in the medical research fields in the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct.
俀珗腦瞳厙桴s plans align with the State and Federal Governments City Deal vision to create a vibrant presence in the city centre and make Perth an attractive place to live and work.
俀珗腦瞳厙桴s CBD campus will be integral to the City Deal vision being achieved.
We will be delivering a knowledge-based cultural precinct adjacent to amenities such as retail, recreation, entertainment, accommodation and transport in the centre of Perth.
We expect this will contribute significant economic benefit to the City of Perth in terms of activating the city, as well as to the state and national economy through the creation of jobs and attracting students from interstate and overseas.
Mr McKee said 俀珗腦瞳厙桴 was seeking interest from investors and developers to support the University in its plan to establish the new CBD campus.
We propose to be the main tenant in the vertical campus but envisage opportunities for co-location with other compatible, preferably education focused, entities, Mr McKee said.
The campus will be an iconic education development in the heart of Perth.
