This includes applicants who already hold a current Australian student visa when applying for admission into a course.

The GS requirement is used to assess whether you intend to study in Australia for the primary purpose of gaining quality education.

Our assessment considers all information provided in your application, including:

• Responses to any application questions
• Supporting documentation submitted

Based on this assessment, we may request additional information or documentation. In some cases, you may also be invited to attend an interview. Not all applicants will be required to provide further information or attend an interview.

The GS requirement is not intended to exclude students who, after studying in Australia, develop skills Australia needs and who then go on to apply for permanent residence.
