Choose from a variety of team sports and casual drop‑in sessions that suit every skill level — whether you’re looking to unwind between classes, stay fit during semester, or simply try something new. Social sport at Murdoch is all about connection, community, and enjoying physical activity in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

With flexible sessions, friendly gameplay, and no high‑stakes competition, it’s the perfect way to stay healthy, reduce stress, and be part of campus life.

Come and play

Come & Play sessions are free, fun, and open to everyone. Whether you're looking to try a new sport, meet new people, stay active, or simply have some fun, these sessions provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all skill levels and abilities.

 No experience is needed, and there's no need to register—just turn up and play. Explore a range of different sports, build new friendships, and connect with the Murdoch community while enjoying some friendly social sport.

Starting from week 1 on Bush Court, we will be offering a different sport each week in semester 1 on Thursdays at 12pm. 

Learn to Cycle

Thursdays - September 3rd-17th for Sem 2

It's never too late to learn something new and discovering how to ride a bicycle is an empowering, fun and sustainable way to get around campus!

Perfect for anyone who's brand new to cycling or has minimal experience, Murdoch Active invites staff and students to join our FREE learn-to-cycle workshops. With friendly expert guidance from People on Bicycles, you'll build confidence, learn at your own pace, and enjoy a supportive, welcoming environment every step of the way. 

Bikes and safety equipment will be provided by People on Bicycles.

Learn to Swim 

Wednesdays - September 9th - October 7th 2026 for Sem 2

Feel more comfortable and confident in the water. Learn the essential skills you need to keep you water-safe. 

Whether you are new to swimming or just want to build your confidence, Discover the basics of water safety with our FREE Water Awareness Course, open to all Murdoch students and staff.

This beginner friendly session introduces you to essential water skills. Guided by skilled instructors in a relaxed environment, you'll learn foundational techniques, safe entry and exit practises, and simple skills that'll help you stay calm and capable in the water.

Free Transport for this course will be provided to and from campus. 

 Learn to Grow

Wednesdays - August 19th, 26th  – September 9th, 16th 2026 (Weeks 4, 5, 7 & 8)

Build your confidence and skills in the garden. Learn the essentials you need to grow your own fresh produce.

Whether you’re new to gardening or looking to develop your green thumb, Discover the basics of growing with our FREE Learn 2 Grow program, open to all Murdoch students and staff.

This beginner-friendly session introduces you to practical gardening skills suited to Perth conditions. Guided by experienced facilitators in a relaxed outdoor setting, you’ll learn about soil types, seasonal planting, watering techniques, and simple skills to help your plants thrive. Best of all, you’ll get to take home what you grow – from fresh herbs and lettuce to seasonal produce like sweet potato.
